Lecture on the role of the United Nations in Lebanon
Given by Mr Michel Duval, Ambassador of Canada in Lebanon from 2002 to 2005
UNAC-Greater Montreal is pleased
to invite you to the Conference " The UN
and Democraty in Lebanon", given by Mr Michel Duval,
Ambassador of Canada Lebanon from 2002 to 2005. The
lecture will focus on the the evolution of the role of the United
Nations in Lebanon, and on the future for the Lebanon.
Mr. Duval has worked abroad with the Permanent Delegation
of Canada to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and
Development (OECD), at the Canadian Embassies in Budapest and in
Bonn. Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of
Canada to the United Nations in New York, 1997-2002, he chaired
the Working Group of the Special Committee on Peacekeeping. In
Ottawa, he has held a number of positions and among them served
on as Senior Departmental Assistant to the Minister for External
Relations responsible for Development and Head of the NATO
Section.
In 1996, he served as
Haiti Coordinator and in 1997 as Director of the International
Security and Peacekeeping Division. Mr. Duval holds degrees
Université de Montréal and is a graduate of
École nationale d'administration, Québec. Since his
retirement in 2006, Michel Duval works with the Pearson
Peacekeeping Centre.
The lecture will be in French. Mr Duval will
answer questions in both English and French.
