Report on the contest THE UNITED NATIONS AND YOU
The UNAC-Montreal contest is reported sine die
The Board of Directors of the United Nations Association of Canada-Montreal has decided at the October 18 meeting to suspend the contest THE UNITED NATIONSAND YOU and will be at the drawing board in the course of the next few months to relaunch it on a more solidly financial and above all continuing bases.
In fact, inspite of the very encouraging results, the renewed expression of initial support from the different sponsors, and the important effort expended by the UNAC-Montreal team, it has not been possible to muster an operational budget adequate enough to replicate the favourable conditions of last year for the 2004-2005 endeavour.
The contest THE UNITED NATIONS AND YOU enjoyed a grand success with its inaugural edition last year and UNAC-Montreal can only congratrulate itself for having succeeded in creating a general unanimity on the idea of a contest to sensitize the youths to the UN. Thus, the Board of Directors deeply regrets having to make this difficult decision but it is necessary to assure a sound management of the Association and, equally important, an opportunity to explore a more favourable condition to sustain the continuity of the contest.
