Lecture by Mr Gilles Vincent on May 21st

Contribution of Botanical gardens on the preservation of biodiversity

UNAC-Greater Montreal is pleased to announce you a lecture on the role and the contribution of Botanical gardens with regard to the protection of biodiversity and, more specifically, compared to the world strategy for the conservation of plants.

Mr. Vincent obtained a B.Sc. in Biological sciences and a M.sc in Botany at the Université de Montréal. Appointed as a botanist at the Montréal Botanical Garden in 1982, and successively Conservator and Head of division – Scientific research and development, 1994-1995, and Director of the Botanical Garden, 1997-1999, Mr Vincent is back since 2003.

Mr. Vincent developed the collection of the Garden, led large scale research activities, set up educational and animation programs, and developed strong collaboration with large botanical gardens and scientific institutions around the world, such as the Secretariat for the Convention on Biological Diversity.

The lecture will be in French. Mr Vincent will answer questions in both English and French.
